Without the training sections—Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer
Scouts—there would be no point to Scouting at all! At Crown, we strive
to provide the members of our training sections a Scouting experience
they will remember for the rest of their lives!
For all its members aged 6 to 18, Crown provides
an active programme of weekly meetings, weekend camps and activities
and special events such as week-long summer camps and even a regular
opportunity to attend international jamborees and meet Scouts from
other countries.
Scouting at Crown is always an adventure. The training sections are
always busy with various events and activities. Camping is a very
important part of Crown's Scouting experience, and the Scout Troop and
Explorer Unit both arrange regular nights away for their members.
Crown Group's Explorer Unit meets jointly with an Explorer Unit from
another local Scout Group (Kingsmills), and participates in activities
under the umbrella name of the Phoenix Explorer Scout Unit. Crown's
members of the Phoenix Unit continue to be full members of Crown Scout
Group.
Scouts aged 14+ from both Crown and Kingsmills
Troops (as well as other local troops) will join the Phoenix Unit as
part of their membership of their own group's unit. This will enable
the Explorer Scouts to meet members of other units and participate in
a wider activity programme.
A set of photos from 1921/1922 was discovered
during 2002, hidden
away at the back of a drawer, that shows Crown Scout Troop in it's
early days. The photos have a description written on
their reverse. The descriptions give the dates and brief details
of the photos.
