| How Do I Join
Crown?
Since Scouting was founded by Lord Baden-Powell in 1907, hundreds of
millions of young people have participated in the Scout Movement all
over the world. There are currently about 30 million members (young
people and adult leaders) involved in Scouting across the world!
If you're a young person who is interested in being a part of Crown's
Scouting adventure, or a parent wishing for your child to benefit from
what Scouting has to offer young people, read on for information about
what Scouting is all about, and how you can be a part of it!
Joining Crown Scout Group couldn't be easier!
There is rarely a waiting list for any of the training sections, so
it's very likely that you can join the section relevant to your age
straight away! Refer to the core age ranges (above the Cub paw!) to
find out which section applies to you.
For those wishing to join either the Beavers,
Cubs or Scouts, it's important for a parent/carer to call the section
leader first to arrange your first night's attendance. This is not
only so that we will know to expect you, but also to ensure your
parents/carers are aware of the arrangements. If you
would like further information, or to talk to the section leader of
the training section that applies to you, go to the
Group Contacts
page, and call the relevant leader for a personal chat about what
Crown Group can offer your family. We look forward to hearing from
you!
Crown Group's Explorer Unit meets jointly with an Explorer Unit from
another local Scout Group (Kingsmills), and participates in activities
under the umbrella name of the Phoenix Explorer Scout Unit. Crown's
members of the Phoenix Unit continue to be full members of Crown Scout
Group.
Scouts aged 14+ from both Crown and Kingsmills
Troops (as well as other local troops) will join the Phoenix Unit as
part of their membership of their own group's unit. This will enable
the Explorer Scouts to meet members of other units and participate in
a wider activity programme.
