| A
Scout Troop Activity Report
A team of 8 Scouts enjoyed a weekend of sledging in the hills above Loch
Oich during February 2005! All the Scouts took a spare survival bag for
one single purpose - sledging! More commonly known as bivvy-bagging, the
Scouts spent hours sliding down the snow-covered hill side!

The Scouts were undertaking the hike as part of
their Zodiac Award progress, which entails them spending at least one
night at camp per month, for 9 months out of 12. During each camp, they
must successfully complete a challenge. February's challenge was to camp
below 0°C!
For each of the 9 overnight hike camps, the Scouts
are required to arrange their own food in their cooking groups. They
also prepare their equipment, such as stoves, fuel and anything else
which is required for the location that they're going to be hiking in. |
