Welcome to the exciting world of the
cub scouts. We have offered boy and girls
aged 8-10½ the opportunity to join in many fun and adventurous activities including camping, hill walking, bell boating, crafts, games ... the list goes on!
Young people also get to have their say about what happens in the
pack through regular
pack and district events where young people are invited to attend and contribute their ideas.

cub scout pack or would like more information, please visit the Join Us ~ I'm Aged 6-18 page. |

The cub scout pack section has a balanced programme and also offers awards and badges:
This zone provides opportunities to explore and develop Scouting values, personal attitudes and a range of beliefs.
This zone helps
cub scouts explore the community in which they live, discovering local people, places and facilities. It also gives them the opportunity to offer help and service.
This zone focuses on activities to improve fitness, promote personal health and increase awareness of personal safety. It should provide young people with the opportunities to participate in a variety of games and to improve their skills in a range of physical pursuits.
This zone provides opportunities for young people to display their creativity through art, music, drama, design, worship and leadership.
This zone helps
cub scouts to discover the similarities and differences in lifestyle, cultures and environments, both locally and from around the world. It helps them make a difference.
In this, the largest zone, are all the activities connected with camping and the great outdoors. This zone is full of opportunities to learn not just the traditional Scouting skills associated with hiking and camping, but also those needed for other adventurous activities.
When you join, the first challenge is to gain your
membership award. This helps you to understand what it means to be a
scout. When you are invested, you will be given the
world membership badge, to show that you have taken your promise.
Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow
cub scouts to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests.

Gaining a challenge badge involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the
pack or community. There are several challenge badges across a number of themes, from the physical and outdoorsy to challenges dealing with the local community or issues connected with the Scouting world.
The highest award cub scouts can achieve is the Chief Scout’s Gold Silver
award.
The staged activity badges have been designed to provide a unified approach throughout the sections. There are six activity badges staged across the sections. This means that a young person can gain whichever badge is appropriate to the level they have reached. It is possible, for example, for a
beaver scout who is an excellent swimmer to gain a higher level badge than a
scout who has just taken up the activity.

These awards encourage each section to link up with another
section within a Scout Group, a section in another Group, or another youth group or organisation, to work together on a project that will help other people. There are:
